My WORD for 2012

"Keep your eyes on the stars
and your feet on the ground."
Theodore Roosevelt

distinct*dedication *discipline*clarity*definite

This is the ONLY word that makes sense for me this year...
It is a word that has nudged its way into my being.
Those who know me well-know that I couldn't work any harder if I tried...
I admit it,
I'm a TYPE A-workaholic-recluse...
However...
I lack...focus.

I want to do everything...all at once.
I'm impatient...most of the time
ALL THE TIME!
 I like instant gratification...
I lose interest in things that take too long...
I want and need results like yesterday....
SO
This is why I have chosen
FOCUS
as my word for 2012.

 I want to FOCUS on
PRIORITIZING
my time to work on
my projects and dreams...
Because
I KNOW what I want.

This year, I'm going to work my butt off
to achieve my goals with a clear direction and
 FOCUS
and concentrate on my
OWN RACE...
no matter how many amazing opportunities
and possibilities tempt me...

This year I have actually created a schedule
and I will stick to it because that is
the only way I will be able to
accomplish all of my goals.

(I know it is possible because my Hubby teaches me this everyday).

This year I will be dividing my time as follows:

Monday

(I totally LOVE this quote... so simple and SO true!)

Here's an AWESOME post by Danielle Laporte where she talks about FOCUS and how it hurts so good.

These were my WORDS
in

Stay tuned for my next post as I share the most generous
act of kindness I have EVER received!!!
(And I received it just yesterday)

For REALS!  It's THAT good! xoxo

  1. Great word Danielle, focus is something I still need and am getting better at but still needs working on ;o)

My word for this year is NURTURE for all aspects of my life, mind, body and soul, I have already worked out my plan and started applying this to my daily routine and I feel sooooo much better for it, I can't wait to see if I feel even better a few months along the way.

Good luck with your schedule, don't forget to love yourself along with the working (I was bad at that last year) x

  2. This word has been ringing through my head for quite sometime. I am feeling very distracted today. (could also be the dreary rain) How did you know that I needed to read this today? I don't feel so alone in all this, so thank you for sharing and to echo "The Secret Hermit" be kind to yourself!

  3. Love it! I had a winter solstice tarot reading that encouraged me to focus as well -- to move from being a generalist to a specialist, to streamline what I offer, and focus on one goal at a time. Gosh dang, though, it's so hard.

I'll be writing about my word on my blog, but I'll give you a preview. I also fall into the Type A category and my words in the last few years have been about wanting and getting: DESIRE and STRATEGY. But I've been getting messages that I need to take a different tack this year, and allow things to happen with more ease. So my word is CHILLAX -- especially chosen because it's embarrassing and goofy and makes it impossible for me to take myself too seriously!

  6. Danielle, I feel like you wrote this post for me! So many of the same thoughts and feelings run around my head as well. Especially those about doing everything, doing it now, and the instant gratification. My word is Flourish...I have just posted about it on my blog...please come and visit!

  7. Danielle, I love for word, FOCUS. It was my word for 2011. This year I chose balance. You can read about it here. http://whatwecreate.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-one-simple-word.html

As much as I want to focus, I seem to get so scattered. So this year, my intention is to stay in balance.

Oh BTW, I love your art. I found you on FB. So glad to be friends.
    hugs

  9. Yes. I need FOCUS in my life too this year. I made a schedule too, but more trying to track my free time and make the most of it. Good luck on your FOCUS! Wishing you all the best in a Creative 2012!

  10. wow, that is some major focus with that calendar! i always need to schedule my painting time and chill out time :) it's so easy to get side-tracked, especially when 'amazing" opportunities come up. cheers to you for all of the best to blossom in 2012!

  11. I love your word "focus" and how you've shared your weekly planner - I've been meaning to do this for a year now and never get around to it, so it was a great reminder. My word is 'peace'.

  13. GF! you are a woman after my own heart!! i love it! the schedule: it so resonates with me. though i, myself, have been non-commital about my word... still thinking on it. sending love to you. bravo and kudos on your new schedule. i may have to do one too!!!

  14. I like that you put a 'free choice' option and 'computer time' in your schedule. One of these days (I swear girl I will get there too....write a weekly schedule and stick to it for more than 5 days without wanting to throw it out the window for being too restrictive. I am almost almost, almost there.

    My word this year is F O R W A R D, and so shall I march - willingly, openly and courageously.

  15. funny...this is the first year I had a word and it's FOCUS, too...and what you wrote is totally me, too...so i'm right there with you sister...I haven't written such a tight calendar because I'm in the middle of a move and taking Kelly and Beth's class...that is going to take focus...thanks for sharing and good luck on your wonderful schedule.

  16. Hi Danielle, it has been a long time! My word of the year is "believe". This has several meanings for me, but mainly it reminds me that I need to believe in myself.

  17. Truly love your WORD and can relate to every little thing you said. I created a schedule for me...but they are so hard to keep. I may take yours and tweak it a bit for myself...it looks so good and like something I could follow.

My main thing is my house. It drives me crazy when it's not clean and organized. How do you handle those things? I would love to know!!!

Looking forward to your year with you!! Lots of great things in store I just know it!

  18. Ha ha - I can identify with your word - there are just too many things to try out and do..... have to try a bit of everything. I love your time table - (a bit jealous - look at all that time you get to paint and write. Fitting is my word!
