Hello sweet community!
I have been painting and painting!
The studio is in total disarray again...
As I mentioned previously,
I am now focusing all of my painting time on my SOLO show
in Quebec city that is taking place in June and July.
I have named this show:
"La Plume Blanche"
(The White Feather)
Here is the show description:
“La Plume Blanche” is an exploration
into the past where each feminine face brings me closer to my ancestors. The white feather has always been a symbol of
hope and truth for me and now, it has become my guiding light for understanding
the many layers of my identity as a Métis woman in today’s Canada.
I took some time out to PLAY yesterday...
I dressed up and put on some frills with my feathered earrings
and did a self-portrait photo shoot.
All these photos were taken yesterday.
I put on some of my fave music and just went for it!
I also painted the backgrounds on these large canvases
measuring 18 by 24 inches.
The colour was just a flying yesterday...
I capped off my PLAY DAY with a varsity Basketball Game with Owen and Steve.
I also couldn't leave without telling you that I was denied
my my wine purchase at the liquor store because I didn't have my ID on me...
(The lady thought I could pass for 19???)

I was totally OK with not taking the wine home.
I hope you're all having a good weekend.
I'm going to steal a few hours of painting
while the boys play their Saturday morning Video games.

ReplyDeleteThere is such power in this painting - conviction, a knowing - knowledge. I was thinking about you the other day when I was thinking about a family constellation workshop I did a few years ago. It explores our connection to our ancestors and is a very powerful healing tool and self exploratory tool. The genesis of the system began when a catholic priest and psychotherapist lived in Kwa Zulu Natal, when he returned to Germany he was so taken with the impact of ancestors on the local people that he developed this way of working. There are people all the over the world now who run these workshops - it is very difficult to explain exactly what happens. If ever you get a chance to do a workshop I really think it would blow your mind, especially with your connection to your ancestors. I'm just loving sharing this exploration with you - thank you so much for being so generous and allowing us to participate on this adventure with you.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever thought of teaching a class?!! I can't be the only one who would love learning some of your techniques. I'm in rapture with nearly every painting you create. Besides, your attitude and way of looking at life would be something to absorb in a class too. I really think you should think about it
ReplyDeletethat is so great that you did not get carded. i do think you have a youthful beaming face. so i would agree with the person who carded you. tho, bummer about the red (or was it white wine?). the show is so exciting and i wish i was able to see it when it comes full circle. you are inspiring!
