(This is MY Totem Animal)
16 by 20 inches
I'm wrapping up these paintings for my next show. I have one more to do and then I will be free again. Painting these has been a challenge for me. I know more than ever that I need to take a break-a long break when it comes to painting LARGE bodies of work for a specific purpose. In a way, painting LARGE bodies prevents me from going outside the box and forces me to stay within it, for the whole group to look cohesive and together. This part is EXTREMELY challenging for me as I hate to feel constrained in any way... omg. understatement...
Nevertheless, I'm very proud of these paintings and the message behind them and I hold big hopes that the kids who will see them in the library will be taken by them and feel inspired and connected to the animals that call them.

BIG NEWS:
I plan on opening up my ETSY shop again before September and I'm SO EXCITED to fill it with NEW products and paintings... (I'm also craving routine again but don't tell anybody, I doubt they would believe it...)
Happy Weekend dear peeps!
We are sticking around this weekend as I have tons of work to do.
I need to make up for all the time I've been in the wilderness.

What a powerful piece, wow!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Danielle... and i totally get your "craving routine" need, so i'm happy your ETSY shop will be opening again! Painting for a show isn't easy - especially when all the pieces are larger. Your work is gorgeous Danielle, and i'm positive it will awaken the imagination of many children (and adults!) alike. xox
ReplyDeleteyour exhibit is going to be fantastic! from the looks of all of the paintings i would have had no idea they'd have been such a challenge for you. they are stunning and so full of energy.

Kwei Danielle!
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well with you+ family!
Feel free to advertise your shows and ETSY shop (when it's open again) on the Weskarini facebook page if you want. It seems many people in the group (and visiting the page) are looking for anything weskarini-related, historical or contemporary, like little hints to understand their own identity better. I think your work may interest and inspire many people...
Congratulations on this beautiful series, your work is beautiful and powerful, and I wish you the rejuvenating rest you need after this big project.
I love this painting Danielle and I'm sure the children at the library will enjoy ALL your paintings for this show IMMENSELY! =-)
ReplyDeleteDanielle, it was so great meeting you at John and Monik's wedding. Your new work here is so powerful and inspiring. I must show my Etsy friend Kicking Bear this post. He's a Cherokee chief and speaks often about Bear medicine. I think he would love your work. Best wishes for your upcoming exhibit and I can't wait to browse your Etsy shop!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Christine
