Open Sesame

So TODAY is the DAY!
After four months of my ETSY hiatus,

But be sure to come back
as I share a big part of myself in a NEW INTERVIEW.
A big thank-you to the wonderful Kate Jones
for asking me to be a part of this collection of
 CREATIVE CANADIAN WOMEN!
I'm SO HONORED to be featured on this site!
(I share the main page with an actual Rock Star!)

This has been one amazing week!
It feels like many new beginnings are on the horizon...

I hope you enjoy all the NEW GOODIES!
Love d xo

One, Two Buckle my Shoe!

WOW!
Somebody pinch me!
Twice!

Here is my article in the latest  issue of  Somerset Apprentice.
I have to be honest that seeing "From the Pros"
in the top left corner is a little surreal...
I'm so proud of this article as I share my methods, muse and inspirations.
Thank-you to Jana Holstein for this wonderful opportunity.

And here is my article in Somerset Studio.
It's inspired by a three color palette-my favorite of all time...
Being in this magazine was a secret wish for me this year.
I'm so grateful to Christen Olivarez for giving me the opportunity.

In it, I share my inspiration for this dynamic color palette.
I tell a story about a circus, my obsession with clowns
and ways for you to tap into your own creative well for story and inspiration.

Looking Ahead

  Untitled
(This is MY Totem Animal)
16 by 20 inches

I'm wrapping up these paintings for my next show. I have one more to do and then I will be free again. Painting these has been a challenge for me. I know more than ever that I need to take a break-a long break when it comes to painting LARGE bodies of work for a specific purpose.  In a way, painting LARGE bodies prevents me from going outside the box and forces me to stay within it, for the whole group to look cohesive and together. This part is EXTREMELY challenging for me as I hate to feel constrained in any way... omg. understatement...

Nevertheless, I'm very proud of these paintings and the message behind them and I hold big hopes that the kids who will see them in the library will be taken by them and feel inspired and connected to the animals that call them.

BIG NEWS:

I plan on opening up my ETSY shop again before September and I'm SO EXCITED to fill it with NEW products and paintings...  (I'm also craving routine again but don't tell anybody, I doubt they would believe it...)

Happy Weekend dear peeps!
We are sticking around this weekend as I have tons of work to do.
I need to make up for all the time I've been in the wilderness.

She Calls Me

I'm slowly getting back into a groove...
My wrists are getting better (thank-you kind souls)
I'm trying to soak up the summer days
as they are already getting shorter and colder...
Summer is WAY too short in this part of the world...
*****

This is another painting that I'm working on for my show coming up
VERY SOON (September 4th) in Quebec city.
It's still unfinished and untitled.
But this one, she calls me.
*****

I dream at night
dream about stringing words together
true words
that you feel inside your belly
when you read them aloud
from your lips

I dream about sending them out there
of making music
one letter after another

stories that need to be told
stories that need to be shared
stories that connect us all

Much love,
